The Little Opera Theatre of NY announces its spring 2013 production of Christoph Willibald Gluck's tragi-comic opera The Reformed Drunkard. Eight performances will be presented from MARCH 16-24 at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Performance times are 8:15 pm for Fridays and Saturdays, including March 16, 22, and 23; 7:15 pm for Tuesday-Thursday performances, March 19-21; and 3:15 pm for two Sunday matinees, March 17 and 24. The Grammy-nominated early music ensemble Ars Lyrica Houston envelopes its guests with festive music by the legendary composers of the Viennese royal court at 9 p.m. tonight, December 31, 2012 at 9 p.m. at Zilka Hall, Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. The concert program featuring two rising stars of the opera stage - soprano Lauren Snouffer and countertenor John Holiday - will include arias and duets by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Christoph Willibald Gluck. The magnificent instrumentalists of Ars Lyrica Houston will perform works by J.H. Schmeltzer, Johann Joseph f*x and Johann Strauss, the "Waltz King."

Guest conductor Nicholas McGegan will lead the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in a program featuring the Atlanta Symphony premiere of Handel's Concerto Grosso in G Major as well as the subscription premiere of Gluck's "Dance of the Blessed Spirits" from Orfeo ed Euridice. Guest violinist Stefan Jackiw will make his Atlanta Symphony debut playing Bruch's Scottish Fantasy. Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4, "Italian," is also on the program. The performances will take place tonight, May 24, and May 25, and 26, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.
